THINGS TO DO FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN.

Aeon has always made it a huge priority to be a safe family friendly event. As the festival has grown so has the budget to bring on board more children’s activities and entertainment. This year we have permission to use additional land at the festival site so we are able to have completely seperate family camping for those who want/need an early night and a bit of peace and quiet.

Family camping will be situated next to the cricket ground. It is flat with good terrain and close to the car park for ease of access. There will be showers to use in the cricket ground pavilions, plenty of toilets and its well lit at night.

BBQs are permitted but not open camp fires or disposable BBQs.

Dogs must be kept on leads AT ALL TIMES in the family camping area. Please respect thy neighbours!

Teenagers are permitted to camp in this area with their families if they wish but must respect the need for peace and quiet, early bedtimes and even earlier mornings!

2009 saw more children than ever at the festival doing everything from Forest School crafts, art workshops, graffiti workshops and circus skills, pottery painting and our very own Parent and Toddler group run by the Busy Being crew, complete with nappy changing and feeding station! All of this runs alongside the main stage area at the Amphitheatre so that parents can enjoy what is going on whilst safe in the knowledge that their children are ok and have plenty to do. More activities are being booked this year for older children so watch this space.

The festival site is small and intimate but with plenty of wide open space. The ground is fairly level for those with buggys and it drains well so if we do have rain you hopefully won't be clogging up your wheels with gunk.

If your considering taking your children to a festival for the first time we would definately recommend it - It's a fantastic social environment with everyone from all walks of life. There are some things to bear in mind though:

- All events have a massive resposiblity in their licensing for 'The prevention of children from harm' We do everything possible to ensure the programming of the event and the infrastructure is in place to ensure safety and wellbeing of all festival goers. However your child remains your responsibily for the weekend as their parent/carer. Certain areas of the festival such as the dance tent and the bar area in the evenings are not suitable for young children. Also directly infront of stage areas where there is a high volume of noise. You will be asked to move from here if we deem it inappropriate.

- Bring a box of toys and stuff to do. Sometimes kids just want to lie around not have to focus on any other activities. Stick a label on a favourite toy/teddy so that if it gets lost we can return it to you.

- Bring a pushchair/pram or a wheelbarrow (!) even if your child wants to run around and insists on walking everywhere. They'll get tired and theres nothing worse than wanting to watch a band or chat with friends without having somewhere safe for your child to sleep. Even an 8 year old will sleep in a wheelbarrow if they're tired enough and the ground is wet!

- Bring plenty of blankets and warm clothes plus extra nappies. In fact spare everything! Also don't forget sunscreen - We have had sunshine the last 3 years, fingers crossed eh.

- Children's snacks and drinks should also be brought with you as although we have great catering sometimes there are queues!

- Our crew are not allowed to treat any first aid situations. You must use the medical services on site for any accidents. Also bring a small first aid kit for any bumps or bruises.

JAMTHECHANNEL
The Channel Jammers joined us in the 2nd year of the festival and took Aeon from a party in a barn to a fully fledged mini festival. Now installed in our big top they provide the dark underground sound of the festival with heavy beats and wonky tunes to keep you on your feet  or put you on your knees if you cant keep up.
